Phi Phi Islands
Krabi, Thailand

Carlito's Bar is located in one of the most beatiful island areas of the world -
Koh Phi Phi.
Koh Phi Phi consists of two stunning islands, Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley, situated about 40 km from Krabi and 48 km from Phuket.

Koh Phi Phi Don is the larger of the two islands and resembles a (slightly weird) butterfly with wings of white-sand beaches and jungle mountains curving around the two bays Ao Ton Sai and Ao Loh Dalum. Boats from Phuket and Krabi dock daily in Ao Ton Sai.
The western cliff section, Koh Nawk, is pretty much inaccessible with a few tidal beaches along Ton Sai wall and Wang Long on the western face. The eastern section, Koh Nai, is much larger and houses the majority of the accommodation, shops and bars.

Koh Phi Phi Ley is the jewel in PP's crown. Unhabited, and almost all sheer cliffs covered in lush vegetation with three main bays (Ao Maya, Loh Samah and Ao Pi Leh) and the Viking Cave all worth a visit.
Ao Maya was the stage for the filming of The Beach and whilst there are no man-eating sharks the bay is as beautiful in real life as it is in the film. Boats can be hired from PP Don for the short trip over to Phi Phi Ley for 500-600 Baht for four hours or a 1000 Baht for eight hours with a maximum of six people per boat.

Places to see & things to do are abundant on the PP islands and there is no excuse for beach lazing (ah, well...). Tour shops and agents line the Main Street and offer the standard One Day Tour (6 stops around Don and Ley) for 350B- 400B.
Real enthusiasts or those out for a little adventure should try the scuba diving at one of the numerous dive shops on the island. Phi Phi Islands is considered to be one of the world's finest dive sites.

Getting to PP is through one of three main ferry routes, from Krabi Town, Phuket and Koh Lanta (though there also are services from Railay Beach and Ao Nang). Speedboats can be chartered in advance for a bumpier yet quicker and more exhilarating crossing.
